The air and ether elements are prominent in the winter time when we in the northern hemisphere are tilted the farthest away from the sun and tilted toward the vast space on the other side of it.

It’s a subtle shift, but the light is changing. I feel the fire element waning from its peak earlier this summer.

The bold representation of the fire element, the sun, sits a little lower in the sky as we move into late summer. The searing intensity of the mid summer sun is diminished.

It’s been about three months since we’ve seen rain, and the grass in my lawn resembles hay that’s ready to be tied up into bales. Just a short walk down the street and into the forest yields a strikingly different scene.

Spring is the perfect season to start a project like this. The days are trending toward longer, the weather is getting nicer, I’m motivated to get out after spending more time inside over the winter, and flowers are budding out, so there is plenty of noteworthy material to feed my exploration. 

I felt the trail welcoming me down a new path in my local park. I meandered down the trail looking for any interesting sights in this unexplored section.
